But first, the bad news:
The United States is the only industrialized nation in the world to not offer paid maternity leave. It's almost the only nation in the world period––only joined by Suriname and Papua New Guinea. (ABC News)
As of 2018, only 17% of civilian workers had access to paid family leave. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)
In 2019, UNICEF ranked the U.S. dead last in family friendly policies. (Forbes)
FMLA only provides 12 weeks of UNPAID leave. But if you work for a small company, clock less than 35 hours a week, or have been in your position for less than a year, you get NOTHING. (U.S. Department of Labor)
I would like to thank The Family Fund for its generous gift. I was able to stay home with my baby for 6 weeks. My last maternity leave for my third child was only 2 weeks. All four of my children, and my husband, appreciated having me home!
